TODAYS TUTORIAL......

Tissue flower garland........I spotted this type in Better Homes & Gardens Halloween Issue.  I didn't  have the exact supplies so I did with what I had.

Here are the suggested supplies:

Natural colored coffee filters
White doilies (I substituted white tissue paper)
Black ribbon
Scissors
Pen
Plate (best in dessert size 4-6")

Here is the picture from the magazine..............

Better Homes and Gardens Halloween Issue 2011

I love this garland, but had to work with limited supplies

Coffee filters, White tissue paper, Scissors, Pen

I used my Pier 1 fall dessert plate to trace out circles on a stack of tissue paper

Then cut the circles out with scissors

Make a sandwich 1 white tissue - 1 coffee filter - another white tissue

Fold in half

Then in half again, so it looks like a cone shape

Twist at the bottom and wrap with floral wire...leaving at least 4-5 inches overhang so you can attach it to your black ribbon.

From my event planning/ favor business I have huge spools of ribbon so I didn't cut until I was done attaching the flowers then snipped my ends and tacked onto wall.

Here is my creepy garland over my living room/dining room archway

I added some black bows in the center of some flowers

I didn't want a very full garland for this particular holiday or archway, but it has given me a fabulous idea for the next holiday season Christmas! lol

FALL TREND....LOOK FOR LESS

I use to be a huge fan of a show called "The Look for Less" with Elisabeth Hasselbeck (before the View).  For the those of you who didn't watch it.   A person pics a look and then they shop the look in a mall in a matter of 30 minutes with some help from a stylist.

This is my version of that show.....I'm going to start a weekly feature post.   I will chose an item I really would like but it might just be out of my budget.   So I'm going to hunt down a look alike version for a price I can afford.

My 1st wish list item for this fall:   A berry colored/jewel tone leather (real or faux) jacket for fall.

Forever 21

Currently on Yellow Tag Deal for $21

My version

Now I found this jacket at a store called Square One and it was marked down to $12.99.  Now that's a price this Mama can handle.

Tell me what you think....sorry the pic was taken late at night but I wanted to get it up and out there for you!

BLOGGER GONE WILD.............

I haven't had faux (fake) nails in I dont know how long.   When I was 18, I actually went to Cosmetology school for manicuring and planned to open a salon of my own.   Well..........................I followed another path but never lost my love for nail design.   That was actually my specialty....airbrushing and hand painted designs.

So while I was shopping this weekend for my niece's b-day treats I found these and thought I would grab a couple of packs for the girls to put on while we were visiting G-ma's house.

My oldest chose the small leopard pattern, and was the designated nail technician for the day! LOL

These are my 17 yr old daughter's nails

Those are the faux nails applied with glue

Leopard pattern is already made into the nail

She cut them down to a comfortable length for testing this week.

This is what the packet looks like, except this is my pattern! lol

Yep...this blogger has gone wild!

Wild for leopard prints.......now on my nails too!

This is the size & length of the nails out of the box, all I did was glue them on!

I think they look really cool and I'm gonna run out and buy some more tomorrow.

Wanna know where I found these bargain beauties...............
Dollar Tree!
(Don't think I need to tell you the obvious price)

Can you believe it??????

I don't think I will be heading to the salon anytime soon....at this price I can buy every pack on the shelf and have enough fabulous patterns for a while.

OCTOBERFEST.......HOLIDAY STYLIN MY NEST

My DR focal wall, crosses always stay....An assortment of black & white vignettes was created to be festive and functional for upcoming parties.

Took the vintage bird cage from the nursey and the crows love their new home...oh well at least the one who survived the rest.  muhahahahahaha

Small vignette of glass containers filled w/ vintage spool of black thread with pins in it.  Other filled with black crow feathers, some pearls and some antique bling.

My DR inspiration, bottle of Jack...two martini glasses with some special additions...a bible, flask and fuzzy creature all on a vintage toile tray painted black

My 3-tier ivy dessert stand that was painted black many moons ago with off white plates and a black pumpkin for fun.

My prize vintage bar cart decked out with some gross creatures.

Apothecary jars, glass bowls, glass candlesticks and a mercury glass candlestick all add some vintage spooky flare.

My favorite trellis black/cream curtains (Lowe's) w/ my Martha Stewart find of the year garland.  Some dangling spiders and my handmade spook board from last year.

My mirror/altar wall with antique frames w/ metallic finishes (I plan of possibly painting black and leaving there forever)  Over the top of the mirror hangs a vintage scroll from a piano player...the song is "Alley Cat"

So cool how you see the impressions and the words to the song next to it!  I have a bunch of these going into the shop!

My Willow House sconce has been invaded by a fuzzy friend

The think this crow likes being King of the Cage..

Where have all my little crows gone????

Scary isn't he

Only purchase made (and it was last year after season) $1.00

Few Updates (C'mon it's me...you know by the time I upload, write the post and launch it something has already been added or changed.

My handmade tissue paper/coffee filter garland

I chose to do white tissue paper instead of the doilies.

I relocated the spook board and the mercury glass candlestick to create this little vignette in my kitchen/dining room pass through window.  Huge apothecary jar filled with mini skulls and a hungry crow.

A few changes to the vintage bar cart...notice the picture in the mirror frame...it's from last year's Halloween mag and I loved this women's home because she doesn black & white or creams like me!  I also stole a few pieces to relocate in the room.
