THIS MAKES ME SMILE

This is a road that I drive everyday out of my little part of town by the water...you must go over this bridge to get into the main area of our township... which is where I opened my shop.  Yes it was intentional to be on Main Street in the center of town.

I took this photo today because every time I drive over it I feel proud and always wonder who the person is who maintains the flags on this bridge.

This bridge isn't just like this today.....it is changed out for memorial day, for 911 memorial.  The flags are always impecable and I just thought it was something to share.

I live in a very patriotic township...... Woodbridge Township, NJ is very supportive of its military and being a USMC family with friends still enlisted I am proud that we are this way.

Hope you or your town display the red-white-blue whenever and where ever you can!   God Bless America

HOLIDAY FESTIVITIES HAVE BEGUN.....

Well yesterday was our town's fireworks celebration at the waterfront park.   This year I decided to save myself the walk over to the jam packed park of probably 1000+ people for a nice but short show and then make the pilgrimage back home.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I decided to do like some of my neighbors and have a party in my front yard.....Here was my little set up for snacks, drinks, dessert!

I wanted an Americana feel so I used some on my vintage pieces and the same color scheme as on my porch....RED-WHITE-BLUE & TURQUOISE

I put my little red Christmas wagon on the left and lined it with a turquoise Pier 1 napkin....stuck in a vintage pie tin for height and filled with blue & red juices for the kids...water bottles for adults.  Added one of my handmade shutter stars.

Use placemats from last year (love the colors) to bring some color and it held 2 bowls of food.

One the right side is a red cubby box...which I used to hold Smores Pop Tarts for the kiddos and some plastic forks.   All the plates & cups were to the right.

In the center I used my vintage chalkboard that I painted blue and gave all the passer bys a message from our house to theirs.

That big circular tray in the middle is a pretzel tray from the Philly Pretzel Factory!  I cant tell you how good those things are, I order one or two for any little event or party we have.   We had butter cream and chocolate dip for the pretzels YUM!!!!

WELL I LEAVE YOU WITH SOME PHOTOS OF THE FIREWORKS...THE NEXT 3 DAYS WILL BE FAMILY TIME SO I WILL SEE YOU WEDNESDAY WITH A SPECIAL GUEST SURPRISE!

Oh and I had to share this, my husband brought this home from grocery shopping this morning (yep, he went shopping and make me brunch)

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY WEEKEND

STAY SAFE

GOD BLESS!

MEMORIAL DAY 2011.....Remember!

I've always been the house on the block to decorate for the holidays!   I had a busy year last year with the new baby and getting settled in the new house so this year I wanted to get back to basics.

Although Christmas is my FAVORITE holiday season.   I LOVE PATRIOTIC HOLIDAYS!    In fact RED-WHITE-BLUE decorations go up on our house in May and don't come down till after July 4th.

I think it's the least I can do to honor those fallen soldiers and for the men & women who are risking their lives everyday for us right this very moment.

Nothing rang more true to me than the time of May 2008 to April 2009 when my husband, a U.S. Marine was deployed overseas to Iraq.

Our hero!

The house was decked out in yellow ribbons for a year and our American Flag flew high on our flag pole, below it I honored my husband with the USMC flag below.  When he came home, we had a HUGE Welcome banner on the porch and people beeped as they road by, Vietnam Veterans came to ask him to be Grand Marshall in their parade!

Our old little farmhouse (built 1912)

Im grateful to have him home for this 2nd year and I pray for those who weren't so lucky and for those missing their loved ones who are still fighting.

Here are some small decorations that went up this week.   I have to add more but it was a busy, hectic week but I will be adding some more and have a special project for the outside planned as a tribute.

The right side of the yard...Our flag flying

My Uncle Sam telephone pole person

My Red-White-Blue birdbath with some beautiful turquoise!  I used this color scheme last year for a patriotic bbq for my husband's police academy graduation here (See Pics Here)

I hung my patriotic coffee filter garland outside this year.

Little magnets on our vintage milk box.  A antique red lantern on top.

Our flags fly for honor.....POW-MIA, U.S.A., USMC

Close up of my patriotic garland and my tin stars.

My RED-WHITE-BLUE-TURQUOISE handmade wreath from Leighann of A Crafty Southern Chick
She made a similar one for herself, I emailed her and asked her to make me one because it matched my birdbath...turns out she had the same birdbath down in South Carolina (seriously, we have way too much in common).  Check out her NEW line of wreaths!

My wooden U.S. Marine that guards our porch 24/7 with his loyal bulldog!

SO I ASK OF YOU ALL.....as you decorate your porch, your table and your house fills with family & friends to BBQ and have pool parties.

Please take the time to remember those who have given their lives for this country and it's people!  Pray for those who are doing it still today!   Thank the ones who have returned home and trying to get back to the normal life they left behind!

Let them know that it's not just ONE DAY that we remember and our grateful for what they've done, but every night that we lay our heads on our pillows!

Thank you!

We are thankful and remember our Marine everyday!

GOD BLESS AMERICA.........

BBQ's and pool parties are great, so is getting together for fireworks at night.  But, let's all remember what today is about (take a look).  Let's also remember all of our military men and women that are away from the U.S still fighting for the freedoms that we enjoy every year at this time.  I  dont mean to preach, Im the wife of a U.S. Marine who served his deployment overseas a little over 1 year ago and Im happy that he is now home with us.  Not all are so lucky, please pray for those who are not home at this time and thank them for their sacrifices so that we may enjoy our freedoms.

MY FIRST TABLESCAPE THURSDAY!!!!

This tablescape is in honor of my U.S. Marine husband who just recently graduated the police academy. I decided to keep the patriotic theme going for Memorial Day, Flag Day and until we have his BBQ this Saturday (i'll post some of those pics next week).   I kept it simple but still think I might add a few items here and there.
