Her work embodies the concept of my shop and Im so happy to be able to share her with NJ.

AN AMAZING CREATIVE ARTIST......

While in Greenville SC this weekend, I was lucky enough to attend a yearly festival they call Artisphere.  It was amazing, the whole downtown area was filled with tents featuring artists and their creations.  I will be doing a post later this week but I wanted to feature this lady especially because her art was so special.

You all know that Im a lover of repurposing and a self proclaimed Repurposing Princess.  When my family and I were walking past this tent it immediately caught my eye.  I told Big Daddy to grab a hold of the stroller and I wandered right in.....I was in awe of all the things I saw.

The artists name is Amy Flynn and she is the creator of Fobots.   Her business card title is actually a Senior Fobotologist ( I love that).    The robots are given that name because they are Found Object Robots...hence Fobots!    The objects used and way that these robots are created is amazing.

Here is Amy explaining to my son how she started

I asked if I could take some pictures and she generously agreed.   I just had to share this with all my junk loving chicks out there.   I was literally drooling in there and my 12 year old asked Amy how she started creating these robots....her answer to him what that she really loved flea markets.   He yells loudly to me in the tent..."You here that Mama, she's like you!" I just laughed. lol

But I hope that you will take the time to visit her site and she the wonderful imagination that she has to take everyday items, junk, pieces and turn them into these amazing sculptures.  I was so mesmarized I didnt ask for pricing on her robots but I love this art and think that I will have one of these one day soon in my house.

She has everything from old band-aid boxes, tin molds, billard balls, old camera parts.....I mean it is just a junker's heaven and I was loving every minute of it.

Amy is based out of Raleigh, North Carolina and I'm going to give you what information I have from her business card and Im sure you can google her too.

COIN CREATIONS......

I want to introduce you all to an amazing artist.   I actually came across him through my blog bff Leighann from A Crafty Southern Chick.

His name is Jim a.k.a.  Coin Ring Man.  He is an artist from Phoenix, Arizona.    He created his first ring in 1968 and the age of seventeen, and has been creating ever since.    His rings are handcrafted from coins....yes currency, money, dinero!  I had never seen anything like it.   I thought it was so original I wanted to share him with you all.  I'm a big believer in supporting real artists and they're work that's why I shop and sell on Etsy.

I have plans on ordering a bunch of his work...I like things to have a meaning so Im deciding on what kind of coins I would like.

You can find Jim's shop on EtsyCoin Ring Man...I encourage you all to go on over and take a look at this artist's awesome work.     Here are a few of my favorite pieces

British Two Pence

Republica De Costa Rica

Canadian Large Cent

Kennedy Half Dollar

New York State Quarter

Appreciate real art and real artists....buy handmade & handcrafted whenever you can and you are helping someone motivate their hobby, fulfill their dream or possibly provide for their family.

PEARL F. FRYAR.....A SOUTH CAROLINA TREASURE!

Well any of you who watch HGTV might have seen their special last year on Mr. Pearl Fryar.   They did a feature on his garden in Bishopville, South Carolina.   Mr. Fryer is now 70 years old and still maintaining his garden.  I wanted to visit him last year on my trip down to SC but didn't get the chance.  This time as I was driving to Myrtle Beach from Rock Hill I saw the sign for Bishopville and couldn't pass up the opportunity to meet this man and have my children see this amazing garden.

I intend on doing a full post once I'm back from South Carolina but here is a sneak peek of some beauty.
