FURNITURE FRIDAY...CARTOLINA ITALIANA

I love letters in general whether is text in a book or dictionary, signs, letters but most of all post cards.   I love postcards and collect them from anystate or place I visit.   Even if it's in New Jersey.

(LIGHTBULB) I think I might request a postcard from all of my fabulous friends and readers here. (haha)

This table is amazing in it's original state, the top was slightly damaged as far as finish.   I could have easily sanded and stained it and it would be great again.    However me being ME.....I wanted to do something different!   I have seen a lot of stenciling of labels on pillows and everything else so I didnt want to go that route.

A POST CARD!!!!   It was the perfect shape, it had border detailing....it was meant to be!   I set out on a step by step process.    I decided since I was on a chalk paint makeover frenzy I would use my Olde White for the base color (again no sanding needed...just paint).

Postmarks are on and text on top done.

I started off with a little Valspar glaze

Then added more to the edges for age

Same here

Bottom right - con amore (with love)

Final look....I didnt want to right anything personal.   I promised the husband this will be going into the shop!   Let's see if Im able to keep that promise peeps.

TABLETOP TUESDAY ......Trash to Treasure

Wow it's been a while since Ive been cranking out makeover posts, but Ive been a busy bee.    Besides taking care of my family of 7, and 2 visiting young family members.  I found some time to do some makeovers around my house and outdoors.

This was a curbside find...it was beaten up and had no seat at all!

I have that heart to see past the ugly to it's true potential.  So out came some poster board, contact paper and some Graphite AS Chalk Paint.

Something doesn't always need to be was the original intention was......I thought okay no seat so let's make it a table!

Here it is on my back deck holding some fresh cut flowers from my garden.

I then thought it might go here in the hallway under our Family Photo Wall.

I think this will be the final resting place..the graphite and the grey wall go nicely.  Im sure the Ball jar w/ flowers will be replaced with clothing, towels and baby toys.    But only temporarily I clean up every night so I can go to sleep knowing the house it in order.   Crazy I know because I have to do it over again every night! lol

MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL...................

Well not yet ! But we are super excited in this house that the lock out is over and the boys and back in uniform and on the field!

We are Dallas Cowboy Fans in this house (although I secretly love the Eagles too).   So while I was working on a few projects for a contest, I was inspired to create on for our football room A.K.A.  Cowboy Cave!

This chair was just a plain old spindle back chair that would go with your everyday farm table.   Nothing to write home about, but it had good bones.   I was entering an Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Chair Makeover Contest ....now my original idea was 2-tone and stenciling.

But with all the news of the Cowboys and training camp, I decided Paris Grey was it!  When he was all painted up.......it definitely said Cowboys to me!     I painted on the navy star and added some lines (these were suggestions from my kids, because the uniforms have lines too)   I have some future Design Star's on my hands here. lol

This is where it has found it's home by the entry way under my husband football wall of fame.   I wanted to display his football career too so he has a wall in his football room too!  I think it fits nicely and might paint the partner to this chair the same and bring it down to the cave.......we need a lot of seating this season!

Hope you all enjoyed the photos and this very simple makeover (I say simple because as everyone knows) I didnt have to do a thing to that old ugly chair but brush on some AS Chalk Paint and I already had an awesome chair to work with.

Let's go Cowboys!
