NATE SHOW ART.....PARTIAL BEDROOM REVEAL

So now that the show finally aired today.....I can show my bedroom reveal.  Well partial reveal because I still have to refinish a dresser and night stand in there and hang another shelf.   But if I didnt tell you all that right there you would think it looks pretty good.

So the room was formerly the jungle fever - rainforest cafe nursery:

The nursery before it because the master bedroom. lol

We dont need alot of small I dont spend time in my bedroom other than to sleep.   Living space is more important to me and I spend most of my time at the dining room table.

First step was to prime/paint those dark walls and I was working with an idea I had when I created an Olioboard.   My husband is from the Caribbean and likes bright colors....me not so much!   So in this case I compromised and I asked if he would like a yellow, and the answer was a YES!

My Black/White/Gray/Yellow Olioboard

I chose to use Valspar  4006-1A Silver Leaf  for the walls.   I painted the door trim out is Valspar White Semi-Gloss.

Here is the bed wall...no headboard I'm not sure what Im doin yet. Love those little pillows, they were $4.97 at JoAnns (thank you very much)

My transformed lamp was crackle gold and I hit it with some Hammered Silver spray paint and with a NEW HomeGoods shade.   Used a empty old frame and ripped a magazine picture of an old South Carolina house....can you tell that Im dying to move there.

Love the gray color on the walls...this is Big Daddy J's dresser (hence the big black box on top)

My vintage mirror wall along with my new line of vintage china & crystal jewelry stands (these are mine tho. lol) but I will be listing some in my Etsy shop this week.

Here is the bed wall....those are the fabulous junk art boards that were made for us by Michele Beschen when we appeared on The Nate Show (it aired today...Ahhhhhhhh)

This is my board made from my junk...you can see beads, craft paint, baby thermometer, scissors and a whole bunch of pens, pencils, nails, screws and OMG everything in my kitchen junk drawer.

This is my husbands board made from the stuff in his top dresser drawer, you can see cell phone parts, deodorant, tape, cigar, spongebob toy, coaching whistle and alot of his military items like his cord bracelets and chevrons.  The book in the middle is a military prayer book and Michele said that she couldnt paint that so it's the centerpiece.

I LOVE MICHELE....she was from B.Original on DIY Network and is not coming out with B. Organic and I cant wait to start watching.   She was so sweet and walked back to the green room with us and her and I were discussing re-purposing & recycling projects.  SO FREAKIN COOL...What an awesome experience!

All in all....Im happy with our appearance except for the fact that my reaction was "No Way"  I have NEVER used that phrase in my life!   Anyone who knows me knows that I say OMG (which I type and blog too) or SHUT UP!  that is really my signature line.

However I think I was a bit nervous (okay I was very nervous when sitting in the audience segment, however once up on the stage and talking to the crew during the break I felt better but I must have unconsciously sensored myself for TV. lol

Well I will have to show my dresser once it's refinished and new hardware is on.   Remember you can turn someone else's trash into your treasure.   You can also repurpose something you have and are tired of into something new and exciting.

THANKS TO ALL FOR THE GREAT SUPPORT, COMMENTS AND TEXTS!

XOXOXO

TOTALLY A SELF TOOTIN POST

Im excited, thrilled, and over the moon so I figured why not do a post asking everyone to tune in to The Nate Berkus Show tomorrow.   Why????

Because you will see me on the show tomorrow!  Big Daddy J and I filmed a design dilema segment a few weeks ago and it finally airs Monday, March 28th.

Now...as much as I tried to keep the appearance of an organized housewife, mother and blogger.   I do have a secret.......JUNK DRAWERS!

I dont like to throw things away because I love to recycle, re-purpose items and alot of the time they are stored in some of my junk drawers.   I say some...because I have ALOT!

So The Nate Show asked to come on and gave us an awesome solution to our problem....the best part of my appearance......my design dilema designer was Michele Beschen!    Any DIY diva would know who she is but in case you dont do DIY she was the host of B.Original on DIY Network.  I loved that show!

A true re-purposing chick after my own heart.......   She has a new show out B. Organic...look out for it!

So tune in Monday and you will see Nate, Me, Big Daddy J and Michelle!

Ive seen the preview teaser and my reaction on camera is soooooooo funny!  Also I will posting later this week our bedroom reveal where I show the solution in our bedroom!

SNEAK PEEK OF NEW NURSERY ...JUST FOR A FAB PARTY

So I told you all earlier today about Christina over at THE TATTERED TAG.   Today is her fabulous K.I.S.S  (Keep It Simple Sunday) party.

So Ive decided to share a little sneak peek into the newly moved and re-designed nursery.   Im all for re-purposing and making something from what I have, and these little projects were made in just that way.

I purchased this vintage birdcages a few months back to use in the nursery.   I didnt know how but my theme was birds & nests.

My vintage birdcage (Craigslist)

I filled the cage with some Spanish Moss (Dollar Tree)

I painted a little bird from Dollar Tree my new favorite Valspar color

Here is the little vignetter over the changing table

I will be revealing more of the room later this week, still have a little tweekin to do.

Linky this up to a blast of a party:

P.S.    IF ANY OF YOU WANNA KNOW A SECRET ABOUT ME....watch me on The Nate Show tomorrow!    My husband (Big Daddy J) and I guests in the Design Dilema segment!

WHAT I'M WEARING ON THE NATE SHOW

Okay so after all the hoopla of emails and phone interviews and you finally get booked.   Booked for one of the most popular talk shows with an awesome host who happens to be a fabulous decorator.   Whats the next thing that goes through your mind?    If your me........

OMG....WHAT AM I GOING TO WEAR!

They ask you to wear bright colors just like the audience...well I'm not really a bright color clothing girl and I didn't have a lot of color in my wardrobe.  So I had recently shopped a mini wardrobe from Kensie.com and this is what I decided to wear for my appearance on the show (which will air Monday, March 28th)

Splatter dress

Yummy soft cardigan (so versatile)

Boots that my husband bought for me

I was feeling some gray that day and I brought in the gray as well.   It was raining in NJ and NYC but not even Mother Nature can rain on this parade!

Check out Kensie.com for their awesome new Spring collection!

TUNE IN....MARCH 28TH TO SEE ME ON NATE!

Sidenote:   My husband a.k.a. Big Daddy J was wearing Head to Toe Perry Ellis (dont want to leave his stylish self out of my post today. lol)

PHOTOS FROM NATE SHOW

While I can't show photos of what transpired  completely when we appeared as guests on The Nate Berkus Show.  However I can show you some candid photos of my husband and I with the girls in our green room area.

Our green room name tag

Me anxiously waiting...that's my little one asleep in her stroller (Im blessed)

My 4 yr old was on her best behavior and showing off her Nate cookie. lol

Once she woke up...mama was prepared with a fresh bottle.

Daddy keeping her busy & happy

I was in love with this little seating area.

Of course as always there is a sidenote to this post:

I'm a big believer in signs as in we have a path set for us and we need to follow his signs to get us there.  Well as some of you may recall I attended the Nate show the week that Elizabeth Edwards was a guest and I was a huge fan of hers and was planning on visiting her shop The Red Window in Chapel Hill this summer.

Sadly she lost her battle with cancer (I posted about it) and we lost a brave and talented woman.  I thought it was quite relevant that out of all the guest rooms (and there are alot)..... the one chosen for us had a photograph from Nate's interview with Elizabeth.

Tune in on March 28th on NBC Channel 4 ....to see my cover be blown!

I WAS ON NATE TODAY!

As many of you recall last September I was lucky enough (wink) to attend with my sister a taping for The Nate Show.  It was his 2nd week of taping, and the guest was Dolly Parton.  It was awesome, he was so sweet and he shook my hand.....because we were in The Front Row right next to him (on his left) lol.

Okay so it's starting to sound a little stalkerish....but c'mon he is talented and good-looking not a hard day  to sit and look and listen to him.

A few weeks later I spoke with a rep from The Nate Show and submitted a video on junk drawers ( I know it's my dirty little secret) I have tons of them....junk drawers not secrets! lol     And the world got to see them a few weeks later when it aired as an opening teaser to the show.   I didnt even realize it till my sister texted me "OMG....I just saw you on Nate!  Why didn't you tell me".   LOL

Well I've somehow been blessed again, except this time.    Im actually going to be a guest!   Yep that's right I've been asked to come and talk to Nate about a design dilema in my house.  Now I can't give away any details of the segment but I can tell you that his staff puts in alot of work to make these segments happen.

The biggest surprise of all is that we (producers and I) were able to convince my husband (Big Daddy) to be on the show.  They wanted a couple's perspective.  He is so laid back and not the tv talking kind of person (yes it's true opposites do attract).   Because I'm all about talking....blogging it's all the same!

So today we were picked up by car service and whisked away to NYC to The Nate Show to film our segment.   We spent about 4 hours there and I will post whatever picks I was able to take. Its very busy and alot of practicing and positioning.   However I cant reveal the topic of the segment, the fabulous guest who helped us out or the 2 fabulous gifts my husband and I came home with.

You will have to watch or set your DVR's on March 28 th to see what Nate did for Big Daddy and I.

A little P.S. message to my wonderful husband who I know loves me a ton because he would never in a million years want to be on TV never the less speak on camera.   But Big Daddy supports me in whatever I do and knew this was a big deal to me, so he came with me and secretly think he had a great time (except maybe for the hair/make up chair) lol.

OMG!!!!

Yesterday while driving home on the NJ Turnpike my sis J text me and asks why I didnt tell her that my video was on the Nate Berkus Show.   WHAT???????

Okay so let me rewind for those of you who dont remember or are new to my blog.  On 9/2 I went into NYC with my sis to attend taping of Nate Berkus.  I had a blast and didnt have the same experience as the other bloggers in blogland.   I got front row, talked to him and shook his hand as well as Dolly Parton...I got no complaints. lol

After the show I was contacted and asked If I would submit a video.....ON JUNK DRAWERS.  Hahahah
I jumped at that opportunity because I have a ton of them.   So I did my video and sent it in along with the release paperwork....and that was that.

UNTIL.......yesterdays text.   My sis said it was the 9/24 show with Jamie Lee Curtis.  I WATCHED THAT SHOW, well not all due to the little ones and the fact it was my daughters birthday...but totally missed myself. lol

Thank God for DVR, I went into my recording yesterday and watched it. Ugh...how horrible I look, like such a typical Jersey girl the way I was talking. lol    Hey what can I say.....Im a Jersey Girl!

So if some of you DVR his show you can check out my video in the very beginning of the show and the promo for the show.

That's my OMG moment for the week.

After a request from lovely Wendy of Relatively Unique Im posting the video below.
