The Rustic Collection

I love old rustic pieces for events, but sometimes you need to re-purpose or to create something yourself.

I had a wedding project that called for rustic farm style details, and wanted to try something new. So I created a tabletop, some signs, and great accessories all from wood.

RUSTIC WEDDING..............................

It is no secret that rustic style weddings have become increasingly more popular, especially in the North East.   We have historic barns now holding events, we have facilities building barns and rustic dwellings on their property to cater to this new found love of everything old and rustic.

I for one am a huge fan of rustic and it's the core of where my business is based.   Most of my inventory falls under the rustic theme.    I'm exciting that it is becoming a bigger deal here in NJ and hope that couples continue to look outside the box when deciding on venues and a style for their wedding.

Now there are a few different style of rustic...you can have country, barn, western and tuscan.  It all depends on the feel and the environment you want to create.

This weekend I was lucky enough to work with a great team at a farm up out in Pennsylvania.  I can't share all the details but I will give you an idea of what pieces I chose and that you too can use to create a rustic barn wedding.

Here was my beginning pull...key words were Rustic/BBQ/Barn

Sometimes you work with what you can find..in this case..a newer farm style table

Mason jars are always a smart choice...can be used for decor or for drinking your sweet tea

Doors are great for backdrops or as tabletops, the more beat up the better

Fun additions are paper straws for you beverages, ex your mason jars.

Old milk crates are another great addition..especially if you can be so lucky to have your event on a dairy farm. Use them for photo, favor or dessert displays.

You can't ever have too many old wooden chairs

Simple neutrals linens are key to keeping your tables simple and let the rustic quality of the venue and decor shine.

Handmade signs are a great way to personalize your theme...here we used our signs to point guests to all the important areas on the farm.

Painted mason jars allow you to bring in your wedding colors, they can be candleholders or vessels for your tabletop flowers.

Glass, Metal, Wood are your key materials to give you a rustic look

If you are like me, occasionally you might have your husband make farm tabletops for an event.

All photos are props available from Lucky 7 Design, please contact us if you have any questions regarding props for weddings and events.   We offer online and phone consultations to those of you not located in the tri-state area.

ACCOMMODATIONS...............

Weddings are fun....they are fun to plan...fulfilling to style...but sometimes the best is just to be a guest for once!   No pressure....just get an outfit together, a card and your set!

Another fun option you have is that the Bride & Groom usually have set up some type of accommodations for guests that will be traveling to their wedding.

Now.....this is also an important part of the wedding planning.  You don't want to have a gorgeous wedding and then your guests return to their shady hotel.

This past weekend my husband and I attended the wedding of his childhood friend and also fellow Marine.    We decided last minute to stay in a hotel since it was an hour plus drive back home.
The couple chose to have their wedding at beautiful Merion in Cinnaminson, NJ.     The block room accommodations were at The ML Hotel.

Upon arriving at the hotel on the wedding day it was busy with wedding activity as well as locals checking in.  The ML Hotel has an attached water park that is apparently a very popular attraction for families.

We checked in and headed up to our room, pleasantly surprised by the size of the room.  The decor was nice too, of course I snapped pics.....so here you go.

This is almost exact to our room, except we had a nice chair in front of the window

Love the distressed script written wallpaper

Local NJ artwork (Bravo)

This was a cool vintage piece of Atlantic City

And the ever so popular mirror selfie....except this was nice big mirror NOT IN THE BATHROOM...but near the door.

Here is where the wedding after party happened.....the hotel bar

Have to say....   The Hotel ML was a pleasure to stay with you.   Hope to come back with the kids and visit CoCo Keys

PULLING PROPS

I have to say that I love what I do....more than you can imagine.    As a window designer (retail visual merchandiser..lol) you get to play and create spaces to capture people eyes.   I enjoyed my years in retail but always had a love of furniture, parties and spaces.   Well event design is the same way....except a little more special.

Today I'm sharing a sneak peek of how I pull props for a shoot or an event.    Once I have a concept from either the photographer or the couple themselves then I can work my magic.

These photos are a what I pulled together last night to submit to the photographer that will be in charge of next months shoot in PA.   I can't give too much away, but let's just say it's going to be a Pig Out Kinda Day!

Okay that's enough.....you will have to check out my Lucky 7 Design Facebook Page to see the after event photos.

You can also message me on Facebook or Lucky 7 Design on Instagram about any props or styling needs you might have.

Have a Thrifty Tuesday!!!!

AFTERNOON AT THE VINEYARD

Today was a fun day, I had the opportunity to work on a collaboration shoot with a colleague/friend of mine.  Catherine of CS Events based in Jersey City, NJ and I have been talking about doing a photo shoot together for a month or two now and she had the opportunity and asked me to join in on the project.

The photo shoot was held at Laurita Winery in New Egypt, NJ and it was to be an engagement shoot.  A colleague of hers was the photographer on the shoot.   My job on this project was to provide props and a bit of styling.

We had colors, vision and an amazing couple that I had yet to see until today.  I was so happy when I saw this gorgeous couple who just so happened to love vintage.    They were so excited for their engagement shoot with props and we were excited to make it special.

As they got their outfits on and ready to go, we headed into the vineyard to set up vignettes for the photographer to shoot her awesome couple.  The weather was hot, humid and not very pleasant but we forged on and made some awesome memories for all of us.

The sweets were provided by Lenny's Sweet Treats and let's just say that was sweet tooth was satisfied at the end of the day.  Her cakes are awesome and I encourage you all to check her out.

I think the couple enjoyed their shoot and were very happy with our work and all the props used on this shoot.   I had to share this photo of them that the photographer was shooting and the future groom kisses his fiance's shoulder then does a True Blood moment and says "I forgot to tell you Im a vampire".  So cute, so sweet they were awesome and so glad to be apart of their special day!

Here's to June 28, 2014 when these 2 tie the knot!
